PXP FACTS

PXP uses the latest technology in fabrics to keep you safe and comfortable

  • PXP is dramatically softer, safer and more comfortable!
  • PXP Racewear is designed for safety, comfort and durability.   Using the meta-aramid technology of Kermel FR™ fibers, PXP is inherently  fire resistant (FR).  By molecular design the fibers are permanently  non-flammable.  This means that the safety won’t wash out in the laundry  and you will be protected for the life of the garment.   The color of  PXP will also last.   Because it is solution dyed, the color is part of  the base polymer of the fibers, which makes it fade resistant.  What you  will notice most about PXP is how comfortable it is to wear.   The  fibers round cross section makes it extremely soft to the touch.  The  fibers have good elasticity which keeps the garments shape and makes it  long lasting.

Care and Cleaning:

Along with the racing's industries SFI Testing Certification 3.3, our fabric also passes the below certification.

  • NFPA 70E-Edition 2004  (National Fire Protection Association - OSHA mandates Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace)
  • NFPA 70E level 2 and NFPA 2112
  • ATPV Test, arc rating level 2  (Arc Thermal Performance Value rating for Arc Flash Fire)

Why Wear Fire Resistant Underwear?

We often get questions about the necessity of wearing fire resistant underwear under a race suit. The answer is wearing it buys the racer more time before getting second degree burn or worse.

The racers suit, initially protects the driver from flames but there is transfer of heat. Whatever is underneath will get hot. That heat will melt any polyester, spandex, and non-fire resistant fabrics right to their skin. Any snaps or clasps will also get hot.

Fire resistant underwear is an additional barrier between the suit and skin.  If the driver does not want to wear fire resistant underwear, make sure they have a high quality suit and not wear anything underneath that will melt to their skin when it does get hot.

What should I know when buying FR Underwear?

  • When you are shopping for your  safety equipment, the best thing you can do to keep yourself safe is it  to learn the most you can about the materials that your garments are  made of and how to care for them. Make sure your garments are made from  Fire Resistant materials and that your garment is SFI or FIA certified.  Secondly, know if your garment is chemically treated where the fire  resistance has a limited life span or if it is inherently fire resistant like PXP.  PXP is inherently Fire Resistant it will protects your for the life of the garment.
  • When should I replaced my FR Underwear?   Your garment should be replace  when it is warn or has holes or if it doesn't fit.  If your garment is  treated cotton, it is only meant to be washed 25 times before the fire  resistance is washed out.  PXP's fire resistance is part of the base  fiber.  It will always be fire resistant, no matter how many times you  wash or wear it..
  • What is the difference between Fire Resistant and Fire Retardant?    Fire Resistant fabrics are  inherently fire resistant. No matter how much you wash/wear the garment,  it will resist fire.    Fire Retardant is a chemical applied to the  fabric and it eventually will washed out.  PXP is Fire Resistant.  PXP  will remain fire resistant for the life of the garment.
